the femail signature
Women have had to downplay their roles and accomplishments throughout history. And today, women are still downplaying their roles and tempering their tone when communicating in the workplace, particularly in emails. Research shows that women apologize 10x more than their male colleagues, and use self-undermining words in emails to be seen more favorably at work. In the Verizon email network alone, millions of emails are sent every day. So in honor of Women’s History Month, we hacked the office email signature to highlight history’s most accomplished women in science, tech, and social justice. Using female voices of the past to inspire women of today, we created a media platform out of the #1 place we communicate at work: email.
